Islands of Brave New Wonders

Explore the floating Levitanium archipelago — Americas to Europe, Asia, and Africa — with factories built to travel.

Islands

The world of Brave New Wonders is a floating archipelago held aloft by Levitanium. You begin in the Americas biome and later reach Europe, Asia, and Africa as progression and the Sky Pillar airship Wonder open the map. This guide explains how to think about islands as logistics nodes, not isolated save files, and how to prepare factories that survive the hop.

For the unlock that makes serious travel possible, keep Wonders open alongside this page.

Levitanium geography mindset

Each island is a constrained platform with its own resource mix, ruin pressure, and pathing quirks. Because there are no conveyor belts, distance is paid in automaton time and command clarity. That pushes you toward:

  • Local cells instead of continent-sized belts that cannot exist anyway
  • Buffers that absorb travel and landing downtime
  • Behaviours labeled for roles, not for a single cliff silhouette
  • Defense kits sized to the island’s old-world machine presence

Levitanium is the fantasy explanation for the skybound map; modular design is the practical response.

Americas — the teaching continent

The Americas start is where you learn Miner and Mover loops, parse your first custom text, and survive early ruins. Treat it as:

  • Home of your blueprint library
  • Staging ground for fusion/power experiments
  • Safe-ish lab for parser drills (Text Commands)
  • The place you keep a known-good rollback factory even after you travel

Do not strip Americas bare the moment the airship unlocks. A living home island is a strategic battery.

Follow Getting Started until Americas feels calm, then Automation until pastes feel boring.

Europe, Asia, and Africa — specialist destinations

As you unlock Europe, Asia, and Africa biomes, resist cloning your entire Americas base on day one of each landing. Instead:

  1. Scout resource nodes and ruin density before committing megamodules.
  2. Land a defense-first outpost kit (turrets, short haul routes, red-signal retreats) — see Defense.
  3. Attach only the production cells that benefit from local inputs (ore, crystal, sand, water, or later specialties).
  4. Export intermediates back via airship windows rather than forcing every recipe on every rock.
  5. Rewrite any behaviour that still mentions Americas-only landmarks.

Biome art and combat pacing differ; your signal dialect should not. Keep green/yellow/red/blue meanings stable so clones remain literate across the archipelago.

Desert-leaning or harsher African approaches may punish exposed glass buffers and long haul walks — use tighter cells and stronger arcs. Europe and Asia will each present their own mixes of opportunity and old-world machine pressure; let scouting, not assumptions, drive which module leaves the dock.

Travel logistics checklist

Before each voyage:

  • Confirm Sky Pillar Wonder readiness and dock power
  • Snapshot critical blueprints with version names
  • Verify cloned automatons still hold correct tasks after the last paste test
  • Stock fusion cells / power margin for landing
  • Pack dynamite only under strict carry behaviours
  • Brief yourself on relic use if the destination looks contested
  • Set blue-signal load/unload expectations in text commands

After landing:

  • Establish turret coverage before expanding mining fingers
  • Rebind any broken labels immediately
  • Run one production cycle per pasted cell before cloning more Movers
  • Decide what ships home versus what stays as an outpost

Resource notes across the sky

Exact node richness varies by island instance and patch, but the planning categories stay useful:

  • Ore — always protect the first finger; it funds everything else
  • Crystal — often worth a dedicated outpost cell
  • Sand to glass — bulk and pathing heavy; keep Movers numerous and routes short
  • Water — easy to forget until a recipe freezes mid-push
  • Fusion cells — treat as cargo priority when ferrying power-hungry modules

When two islands both offer a resource, specialize by safety and path length, not by completionism.

Combat geography

Old-world machines interact with island shape. Narrow bridges and ruin ridges create natural chokepoints — and natural death funnels for Movers. Use dynamite to open safer turret angles when needed, but re-path after every blast. Relics are excellent for contested landings; they are poor substitutes for a dock you forgot to fortify.

Quality-of-life for explorers

  • Track which biome kits deserve priority slots on the Tier List Hub.
  • Use the Players Hub framing to note which automaton roles die on which islands.
  • Follow Updates if travel rules or biome balance shift after the September 2026 1.0 launch.
  • Keep official site and Steam links on the Links Hub.

Demo/playtest travelers: saves may carry into 1.0, but a fresh Americas start often teaches cleaner island habits than an inherited maze.

Suggested progression narrative

  1. Master Americas loops and defense.
  2. Unlock Sky Pillar airship Wonder with liftable modules ready.
  3. First hop: short voyage, defense kit, one specialty cell, return with notes.
  4. Build a rotation: Americas hub, satellite islands for crystal or other bottlenecks.
  5. Only then run multi-island simultaneous production with disciplined signal windows.

The archipelago is the point of Brave New Wonders. Levitanium keeps the islands in the sky; clear commands and modular factories keep your progress there with them.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Pioneer questions.

Where do I start in Brave New Wonders?

You begin on floating islands in the Americas biome. Stabilize production and defense there before relying on Sky Pillar airship travel.

Which biomes can I reach later?

The archipelago includes Europe, Asia, and Africa biomes in addition to the Americas start, accessed as progression and Wonder travel open up.

What holds the islands up?

The setting’s floating islands and archipelago are held by Levitanium. Gameplay-wise, treat each island as a constrained logistics platform.

Should I rebuild every factory on every island?

No. Use the airship Wonder to ferry modular cells. Specialize satellites and keep a healthy Americas hub as rollback and staging.

What should I do first when landing on a new island?

Scout, place defense coverage, rebind any broken behaviour labels, run one cycle per pasted cell, then expand mining fingers.

Do demo saves change island progression?

Demo or playtest saves can carry into 1.0, but developers recommend a fresh start. Clean Americas habits make later Europe, Asia, and Africa hops smoother.
