Brave New Wonders Launch Priority Tier List

What to invest in first on Americas — ranked for 1.0 commanders.

Tier List Hub

This Tier List Hub ranks early priorities for Brave New Wonders 1.0 — not a PvP character ladder. The game is single-player factory automation without conveyor belts. Your power comes from Miners, Movers, plain-text behaviours, colored signals, defense timing, blueprint discipline, and unlocking the airship Wonder to reach Europe, Asia, and Africa. Use this list beside Getting Started, then deepen systems via Automation, Defense, Wonders, and Islands.

Criteria for these tiers: time-to-stable-ore, risk of wipe from old machines, scalability when you paste blueprints, and how much cognitive load the choice removes. S-tier habits compound; C-tier distractions feel productive while your warehouse starves.

S tier — do this first

Reliable Miner loops before fancy logistics

Miners outrank clever courier networks on hour one. Without ore and crystal flowing, every downstream factory is theatre. Deploy Miners, assign clear extract → deposit behaviours (preset is fine), and verify storage gains before you invent multi-stop Mover ballets. Detailed phrasing lives on Text Commands and copy-ready lines on Tools.

One clean warehouse-buffered cell

A single readable cell — mine, warehouse buffer, smelter or component step, output chest — beats three half-built spaghetti yards. Name destinations. Leave walking lanes. This cell becomes the blueprint you stamp later, behaviours included.

Learn transfer verbs immediately

Inventory mistakes look like “balance problems.” Practice left-click transfer, Shift+stack moves, and right-click splits on Controls so ammo and intermediates move on purpose.

A tier — high leverage once ore moves

Movers as your belts

Movers are S-tier after Miners exist, A-tier as a simultaneous second hire once a node produces surplus. They are fast carriers; treat travel distance as throughput. Prefer short shuttles with buffers over one exhausted hero robot running the entire island.

Signal automation (simple colours first)

Colored signals are how buildings and automatons talk without belts. A Wonder or warehouse flashing red for low fuel or low ammo, with a Mover conditioned to restock, prevents silent failures. Start with one signal colour and one response job. Signal networks rank above decorative factory art every time — see Automation and the dedicated Signals guide.

Blueprint copy/paste with behaviours preserved

Blueprints that keep behaviours are an A-tier force multiplier. Only paste what you have watched succeed for several cycles. Cloning a broken loop clones bankruptcy. Polish, then stamp. For paste discipline and cell hygiene, deepen on Blueprints.

B tier — important, but mistimed if early

Defense timing (turrets, ammo routes, dynamite)

Combat against old machines is real. Turrets, dynamite, and relic finds matter — but walls of empty turrets are a trap. Rank defense as B-tier until you can feed ammo automatically; then promote your first turret line to A. Wire a signal-based ammo courier using ideas from Defense and Tools. Expand into fog only when the stash can absorb a fight.

Custom behaviours beyond presets

Presets clear the tutorial brain. Custom plain-text commands unlock conditional logistics and patrol logic. Still, custom graphs are B-tier if you cannot yet explain the happy path. Add conditions only after unconditional loops work. Review the generated behaviour graph every time.

Early Wonder obsession

The airship Wonder is the campaign multiplier — mobile industry and travel between Americas, Europe, Asia, and Africa. Chasing Wonder unlocks before Americas throughput is stable is a common B-tier misprioritisation: exciting, then stranded with empty tanks and angry machines. When production is healthy, Wonder prep becomes A/S. Read Wonders for the unlock mindset and Islands for biome goals.

C tier — situational or trap-adjacent

Over-diverse automaton roles on day one

One unit that mines, fights, and restocks everything will stall. Specialise early; generalise later with blueprints.

Maximalist decoration and premature megabases

Pretty footprints are fine after signals and buffers exist. Megabase dreams before a working cell waste the launch discount honeymoon.

Ignoring system headroom

Pasting fleets on minimum PC specs without reading System Requirements turns strategy into slideshow. Performance is part of priority ranking.

Priority ladder (launch week)

  1. Miner extraction proven into a warehouse.
  2. Mover shuttle on a short path.
  3. Transfer fluency (Controls).
  4. First blueprint of a known-good cell.
  5. One signal-gated restock (fuel or ammo).
  6. Minimal turret coverage with ammo AI.
  7. Scale cells; then push Wonder unlock requirements.
  8. Island hops with spare logistics capacity.

Mover vs Miner — direct verdict

NeedWinnerWhy
First thirty minutesMinerNo input, no factory
Stable mid-islandMover densityDistance becomes the belt
Combat surgeTemporary Mover ammo jobsMiners should keep digging
Blueprint stampBoth, ratio testedCopy ratios that already worked

Do not star-rank units in a vacuum. Rank jobs. Mining without movers stockpiles at the face. Movers without mining cosplay.

Signal automation priority

Promote signals when any of these appear: Wonder fuel anxiety, turret dry-fire, warehouse overflow, or night-shift laziness (you want the factory to self-heal while you scout ruins). Demote signals when you still mis-click destinations — fix map picks first.

Blueprint usage priority

  • S once a cell survives without babysitting.
  • F if you paste experimental graphs you never inspected. Behaviours-preserved paste is how Brave New Wonders respects your time; abuse it only after trust. Cross-check input bottlenecks on Resources before you stamp a hungry cell across the island.

How to use this hub going forward

Revisit after each Updates patch if balance shifts costs or combat pressure. Cross-check soft goals with the Wiki overview. When you need raw prompt text, open Tools. When you need operator mechanics, open the Players Hub.

Launch success in Brave New Wonders is not an S-tier unit fetish. It is an S-tier habit stack: mine, buffer, move, signal, defend just enough, blueprint the truth, then Wonder your way outward.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Pioneer questions.

Is this a PvP tier list?

No. It ranks launch-week factory priorities for single-player Brave New Wonders: extraction, logistics, signals, defense timing, blueprints, and Wonder unlocks.

Should I build Movers or Miners first?

Prove Miner extraction into storage first, then add Movers as your belts. Scale both together once a short shuttle works.

When should I unlock the Wonder?

After Americas throughput and basic ammo logistics are stable. The Wonder is powerful, but travelling hungry multiplies problems across islands.

When do signals become worth it?

As soon as you are tired of manual fuel or ammo runs — usually right after your first reliable Mover shuttle exists.
